Community & Learning support – Personal Assistant
Experience – Desirable
- Supporting/enabling people with learning disabilities/complex needs & those who engage in behaviours that challenge
- Contributing to and implementing detailed care plans and individual learning plans for people with learning disabilities
- Delivering learning in a range of community and educational settings
Skills & Aptitude – Essential
- Ability to work alongside and support people to maximise their full potential
- To enable people to be at the centre of decisions that affect their lives
- Ability to work on a one to one basis in the community
- Ability to work across a range of settings and with a range of staff teams and professionals
- Ability to contribute to the development of personal support plans
- Ability to work positively as part of a team and also alone
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritise work
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to maintain accurate records
Skills & Aptitude – Desirable
- Working with people with severe disabilities and complex needs
- Knowledge of person centred planning and approaches
- Developing detailed care plans and learning plans for individual service users
- Supporting people who may engage in behaviour that challenges
- Following agreed behavioural support strategies
Qualifications – Essential

- NVQ / Diploma level 2 and above or working towards it
- Training linked to Standards outlined in The Care Certificate

- Ability and willingness to cover absences of colleagues and work additional hours when required, sometimes at short notice
- To be a driver and to have held a UK driving license for a minimum of one year
- To be willing to use your own car to transport the people you are supporting in the community
